Westhill Bulletin Article - Winter 2011

Christmas is approaching and this is one of our busiest times of the year.

Christmas is a joyous and happy family time for most people but sadly, some in our community will find it hard.  Some will go into debt, others will separate from partners and many will be lonely.  It is also a tough time for the bereaved.  The CAB is there to provide advice in all these situations but we can all be good neighbours and look out for one another.

We continue to see more and more people; the economic climate is definitely having an effect on employment, debt and stress.  Sadly, we have lost a few volunteers through illness and happily lost a few more to paid employment.  There are still more than 30 of us but we need more to offer a comprehensive service.  If you would like to volunteer please contact us - fully accredited training will be provided.

At the beginning of this financial year (April 2011) we needed to raise £26,000 to add to our funding from Aberdeenshire Council and Citizens Advice Scotland.  To date we have raised about half of this.  The Council continue to provide us with funding but it is obvious that fundraising, to fully pay for the service, is now a way of life.  If you would like to contribute by helping us to fundraise or by making a donation, please contact our Westhill office.

Many individuals and organisations in Westhill help us with contributions and free services and we would like to thank them all.  Please give generously this Christmas, but remember the most precious gifts are your love and your time.
